Clube de Golf Santo da Serra is ranked in the top 100 courses in Europe and has hosted Madeira´s most prestigious tournaments, including the Madeira Island Open, which has been part of the European Tour since 1993.
The course was built in 1937. Robert Trent Jones Senior redesigned the course in 1991, creating a true masterpiece on a par with his other fabulous creations which include Valderrama and Spyglass Hill of Pebble Beach.
The course has been described by golf journalists as one of the most scenic on the European Tour. It provides a spectacular golfing experience with its challenging terrain, ample fairways, beautiful lakes, strategic bunkers and four different tee positions.
Improvements are carried out on the course every year to maintain its appealing quality of being highly challenging without being too severe.
