Golf Holidays in England

England ranks amongst the world's most influential and far-reaching centres of cultural development. The avid golfer is spoilt for choice in England with hundreds of top quality courses spread throughout the country. Most well known golf courses in England are found in three main areas: Greater London, the Northwest Coast, and the South East.

Around the Greater London area, high profile heath courses such as Sunningdale, Wentworth, and Royal St. George's are easily accessible from the capital, and offer superior courses situated amid stunning inland scenery.

Golf courses north of London are found in the highest concentration along England's Northwest Coast, known as the 'Golf Coast', is a forty-mile stretch of coastline with the highest concentration of links courses in the world. Three courses here - Hoylake, Birkdale, and Lytham St Anne's - are ranked in the world's top twenty golf courses, and have all hosted the British Open Championship. Other famous UK golf courses in the area include Royal Liverpool and Royal Lytham.

In the South East of England, sweeping cliffside and seaside views are the hallmark of prestigious links courses, such as Chart Hills, Royal Cinque Ports, Royal St George's, and Prince's. Lesser-known in the South East, Essex golf courses are less prestigious but still offer top quality golf. In the South West, Devon golf courses such as Saunton and Royal North Devon are the oldest golf courses in Devon and among the oldest links courses in the country.

Besides golfing, England is a tourist's dream, with sightseeing in nearby historical cities like Oxford, Cambridge, and Bath, and world-renowned restaurants, shopping, and culture in cities like London, Manchester, and Liverpool. The climate is fairly temperate and rain is not uncommon but the summer temperatures can exceed 30 degrees C, ideal for discovering the fantastic beaches and coastline.
